I grew up in Indiana, known for its cornfields and basketball. My mom Shirley, was a teacher and my dad Richard, was the athletic director at my high school. My older brother Dave, excelled in several sports.
I loved school! My favorite subjects were English, Music, and Gym. I loved reading books, and I learned how to play the piano and clarinet. My favorite books were Nancy Drew Mysteries.
Girls' sports were becoming popular when I was in high school. I chose cheerleading and loved every minute of it! My school's mascot was the Hot Dogs. And a fun fact about my high school gym...it was used to film the basketball game scenes in the movie Blue Chips!
I went to Purdue University and earned a degree in elementary education. I met some amazing friends and became a die-hard Boilermaker for life!
After graduation, I moved to Wisconsin and became a Packers, Brewers, and Bucks fan. I married my husband Tom and had two beautiful daughters, Kate and Kristi. My family expanded with the addition of my son-in-law Chris and my beautiful grandson Oliver.
After a gazillion rejection letters, my first story was published in Hob-Nob! My name was finally in print! This was followed by sales of The Noblest of the Lilies to Children's Digest, then Hoops, and Belly Flops and Gutter Balls to Highlights for Children. I currently write picture books.
I am a Youth Services Library Associate. I plan story times, manage collections, run a LEGO Club, and organize book clubs. It's awesome to be surrounded by amazing books and wonderful children who love to read!
